@yukiame He has to go to the US first. Hillary has prepared a welcoming committee.

Great news for one of the first, most enthusiastic sponsors of the Rocky Enterprise Software Foundation. Welcome to the US, #45Drives! buff.ly/3Rtewkl

@Nazareno At least they have a budget. I can't remember the last time US passed a budget. It's been one CR after another.

@Nazareno I'm concerned that Russia is so successful, that they will end up with their own "Military Industrial Complex", starting wars to keep the money flowing. The same trap as the US is in now.

@fuknukl @CSB There seem to be some posts today from that account.

Orca the Linux screen reader now has a website!

@russvought My personal opinion is that the "officials" (Bible term for "deep state") made him an offer: "your family or your integrity".

We saw that done openly on live TV to Michigan election commioner who wouldn't certify because the "books didn't balance" (more votes counted than ballots issued). A menacing guy videoed in to say, "Certify this election. We know where your kids live and go to school."

I can understand those who are baffled that conservatives are entertaining removing Mike Johnson from being speaker in an election year with a small majority. I haven’t really weighed in bc I understand the pros and cons. But those watching from the outside need to understand the magnitude of what Johnson is doing. Funding Ukraine & acting as the third party payer of that endless war has rightfully become a mini Brexit for many of us. The neocon foreign policy establishment is determined to keep us in this role of bill payer & imperial leader. We want out, yesterday. It’s killing and exhausting our country. It’s leading to more war internationally. Mike Johnson made commitments not to fund Ukraine without securing the border. I wish he had said regardless, but it was a tangible/reasonable approach. He is now violating that promise bc global elites (David Cameron etc) and ruling class Republicans are in a complete freak out and guess what…he agrees with them! He is a neocon. That is what is happening. So Mike Johnson is now touching the stove and may light himself on fire. This is after being worse than utter mediocrity when it comes to the spending fights, refusing to use the power of the purse, and flipping his position on reforming FISA after a SCIF brief. I don’t know what is going to happen and if he goes down, I expect a complete meltdown from Con Inc. But Mike Johnson will be responsible for his own demise for choosing to govern against the clear wishes of the vast majority of grassroots conservatives who are educated on the issues. And that is no longer a survivable place to be for any GOP leader and thank God for it.

@randahl "Whataboutism" is a bad name. In this context it means "changing the subject" or more colorfully "squirrel!"

When someone make a universal claim, and you point out a counterexample - the words "what about ..." are typically used. E.g.

Alice: All vans are white
Bob: What about that van over there? It looks blue to me.
Alice: I really hate whataboutery!

ALL foreign aid should be eliminated. And AIPAC needs to register as a foreign lobby.

@Autumn That was a major piece of Rand Paul's platform as a candidate for President. He actually had withdrawal plan modeled after addiction recovery. He visited dependent nations, and they were all very receptive to recovery from addiction to American aid.

The Marshall Plan did not have unlimited aid over unlimited time. It was designed with the risk of addiction (for both dealer and customer) in mind.
