So you use a "layer 2 network" that works essentially the same as ancient money orders thousands of years ago (when gold was even *more* expensive to ship).

@RandomDeamon @PNS @cbrooklyn112 @rjdiasio Kinda like those ledger entries at your bank. So much real work and resources to create some electronic accounting entries for an imaginary currency. You own literally nothing (Nixon took USD off gold standard in 1972) and are happy about it.

I loved the donuts I made myself. Dunkin used to make them that way (roll out yeast dough, cut in circles, cut out holes to cook separately, deep fry in beef tallow or non-seed oil).

@PNS The issue is that caffeine interrupts the wake up cycle - so when the caffeine wears off, you start waking up all over again (or just grab another dose of caffeinated beverage).

It worked for me. Wait for that first coffee/tea, and I don't need any more on a normal day.

I had to finish a project early this morning, and drank tea without waiting. My eyelids were drooping at 11am, at 2pm, and they're drooping now. Doesn't happen on normal days with a wait.

I'm not worried about extra caffeine on an occasional basis. But probably not good long term.

@fuknukl It would be really awkward if there was mistake in identifying them. If you screw up and deport a legal citizen/resident - then it can usually be undone.

@PNS It's true that white skin is a mutation that is highly adaptive for northern climes. There are still the rare black couple that have a white (not albino) kid.

@PNS I read a sci-fi story when aliens captured the protagonist and had their matter replicator duplicate the contents of the office vending machine to feed the prisoners. Needless to say, the prisoners quickly grew quite weak and sick.

Eventually, the hero established enough communication to explain the problem, and the captors were able to obtain more food samples (especially meat) for the prisoners.
