I remember listening to @lisamelton talk about the determination the early Safari team had in not committing any code that had any performance regressions, no matter how small.

I miss that Apple.

DPReview, a site that nearly faced a link rot crisis of its own, is now publishing some really smart analysis on the lacking permanence of the internet era. dpreview.com/opinion/051767426

Apple Event - We hope to see you on September 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. PST apple.com/apple-events/

A weird feeling as I’ve dedicated my career to sharing others’ achievements but I’m talking a moment to celebrate myself. I’ve been promoted to Vice President of Developer Community at Microsoft!

When I heard the news I went on a virtual thank you tour, to teachers who supported my curiosity, to bosses who were welcoming…

I'm bad at this but here's a link to my book on how everything -- and I do mean everything -- gets from the factory to our front doors.

We should all be more aware of how this system works. Reporting it was certainly life-changing and worldview-altering for me.

@stroughtonsmith has been posting GIFs of cool #visionOS details, including abilities of the “drag bar” below each window:

- Tap the bar to make just that one window turn to face you.

- Drag any window onto a desk/wall and stick it there flat.

- Then tap the bar to make tilt up to face you.

- Looks like you can tap again to toggle it back to flat?

- Long-press the dot for options like Hide Others.

- You can keep windows in different rooms, even from the same app.

Explain why airplane PA systems can't incorporate listening microphones and zone intelligence and noise cancellation? It's not even expensive now.

This is something I haven’t seen amidst all the hype, an actual developer’s view on the new Apple headset. Answers a lot of good substantive questions about real-world app creation. youtu.be/n8-wTpiuZwE

Serious question about Apple : It's reportedly very engaging. What happens when you watch something that literally brings tears to your eyes? Are the internals waterproof? Would tears get on cameras or affect eye-tracking? Easy take off/put back on w/pause/repeat-last-10-sec to wipe eyes? (Asking for a friend...)

We appreciate your boosts 🙏 It would be fun to go to our year-end meeting and say we have more followers in the #fediverse than we do on Instagram 😁
