Silly Sunday morning thought: if we imagine an alphabet where letters are differentiated by their topology (i.e. any symbol with the same topology has the same meaning, and it just depends on style/preference how you draw it), how many different recognizable letters are reasonable? (A line vs a circle are easily recognizable, 10 holes vs 11 holes are not easily recognizable.)

@j_bertolotti Very Douglas Hofstadter. He is obsessed with calligraphy (among many other things...)
