@asensohn thank you!!
@Quokka hehe…that’s my feeling when LinkedIn says you seem like great entry level employee, here is a senior vice president role you could be a good fit for!
@JensHannemann @AndySocial that’s so interesting. I really love working with Linux and I’m glad I live in an era where things are easier to install. I think even in around 2006/2007 when I tried to use Ubuntu I gave up because I couldn’t find drivers to use wifi.
Still, the history to how we got here is fascinating! Thanks for giving me the background!
@JensHannemann @AndySocial ok, well, then they do get major props for making that an open standard.
@derickflorian @AndySocial Oh yeah. #OpenGL is #SGI‘s original design:

@JensHannemann @AndySocial oh, ok, so the Graphics in SGI really really there for a reason! That’s interesting!
@AndySocial this was a fascinating read! I have always wanted to try IRIX(I just like the name) but it’s never going to happen. I do wish people would put stuff into public domain that has absolutely zero commercial value so we can tinker and learn.
The intelligence community was filled with Sun and Alpha and Sparc workstations, well into the early days of the 21st Century. They were virtually fetish objects.

@ColeOnRails Thank you!!! I did take the weekend off and watch about 6 hours of Stranger Things and it was quite a treat!
@PHolder ok, I will attempt a few more first before looking! Thanks for the props on the test and it sounds like you are really chugging along with all of the code challenges. Do you mostly use Java when coding? I have always wanted to learn some of the Spring framework one day.
@PHolder thanks for checking back in! How is your advent of code coming? My exam went pretty well, just one for calc. The studying paid off because i actually had a half hour of spare time to check my work!
I took a couple of days off because I also have covid again but started working on my side work project again last night. As long as I can make decent progress on that I will jump back in tomorrow I think!
Have you been keeping up with the advent of code calendar?
@filthypines @dev_Paul @ColeOnRails Good luck! Feel free to reach out if you need anything(although I do not know web dev so I don’t know how helpful Ill be). Also take a break if you need one. Slow progress is better than working hard and then giving up after burning out!
A colleague and I were bouncing an idea of having an internal company online #radio station that anyone can volunteer to DJ at any time or as people are showing up for company meetings (All-Hands, AMAs).
Everything I’ve seen out there is for public radio stations, and nothing FOSS. Was wondering if anyone on #mastodon has done or seen anything like this?
Hey, remember when we learned that a right-wing terrorist network extensively planned a violent coup to overthrow the German government and constitution and establish a reactionary, ethnic nationalist, authoritarian monarchy with them as its leaders, and this network included members of the German judiciary, the police, one of its major political parties, the army, and many members of the bourgeois (and formerly royal) societal elite? That was earlier this week.
And now my self-hosted instance works completely!
Thanks to the @dev's fast response to my issue!
I might end up moving to my self hosted instance. So stay tuned lol
