@radehi oh, ok. Thank you for the background. The book I’m reading just said that \r\n is on Windows and \n is linux so I didn’t know the history or the behind the scenes on how it works!
It makes sense that a new line would not go to beginning if there isn’t a carriage return though.
@peyremorgan welcome to the Fediverse!
I like Ada, but I guess in the US at least it seems to be confined to the defense sector from my limited knowledge.
Hi! I'm Morgan, a #Software engineer living in western #EU. I work as a lead developer, with an increasing focus on the #HumanFactors involved in making software. I'm also pursuing a #Psychology degree with the aim of becoming a better #UX #UI designer. When I write code I use #Java and #Typescript but i'd like to go back to #Ada someday.
I also love #Music (yes, all of it)! Share your favorite song with me! 🎶 I'm learning how to play #Drums and might dip my toes into #MusicProduction in the future.
I've been interested in decentralized tech like #Matrix and #IPFS for quite some time. And I still hold a tiny bit of hope that #Blockchain might yield something good eventually (but I don't have a pyramid scheme to sell you I promise).
Also I drink way too much #Tea .

@radehi Here is what happened when I tried it just now. It goes down and over for me.
I can't say when I would need this except for formatting poetry on the command line. :)
I’m also trying to “stretch” my reading muscle. I really need to understand pointers and they look to be about 300 - 400 pages in the book so I need to read maybe a little faster and for longer each night then I’m used to.
TIL
- C does not support function overloading
- the \v vertical tab character is kind of the equivalent of starting a new line and then indenting to the end of the previous line

Here's a forró band performing a song called "Baião." The video is taken from a DVD and has English subtitles.
This song is in the baião style. (Yes, the same name.) I've read that it was Luiz Gonzaga's first big hit, making this style of music famous. The lyrics seem to be all about how great it is to dance the baião, so I guess you could say it's self-recommending.
Lots of covers of this tune on Spotify.
Starting to learn a totally brand new for me musette tune for the accordion. the Valse Italienne "Volupta" by V. Marceau. A tune picked almost at random from my 6 books of 110 musette tunes each (660!). Am doing very bad neurologically but right hand thankfully cooperating today! P.S. Video is just 1.8MB so I think it's ok to load here.

Question for the professional #C programmers out there:
What's your favorite blog / website to learn about the C programming language?
I've went through Beej's guide to C programming and liked it.
Are you aware of anything else?
I'm mostly interested in learning background information and arcane details of the language :)
@AccordionBruce This was an informative video. I usually don’t mind weight so I would be fine with a 120 but a 96 bass sounds like it gives all the convenience you need.
I have an accordion shop about 3 miles away from me so my main choice is buying from him(Bugari 320 only) or looking for something refurbished online now. I will have to see what I’m more comfortable with.
I will check out more of his videos! Thanks for the boost and helpful resources!
@derickflorian
This guy has nice 🪗 videos and here’s his one on why there are so many bass buttons 😹

@AccordionBruce Yeah, that is true. I have read that they are complicated to the point that you bring it to a professional to tune.
We doing #Introductions ?
Hi! I'm Wendy! I live in Seattle, raised 2 kids as a single mom, I did roller derby, started a convention, worked at a toy company, then a gaming company. Now I'm going to school full time at Seattle's Wood Tech Center for Carpentry and working full time at a Tiny House Village serving our homeless community. I'm a yearly volunteer at San Diego Comic Con and my family loves Marvel movies & Star Wars. We adopted a sweet lil forever baby, Kingston and you'll see his picture here often. I also share pictures of food that I cook when I have a single moment to do it. My youngest son is here @Kal_CT@c.im He loves #TheOwlHouse and animation.
I hope you are all having a nice day.
Friends new and old!
My first Mastodon post.
For the past 5 months, I've worked on a two-part investigation with Floodlight's Miranda Green & Mario Ariza.
The details are pretty bananas. And they get at the grim truth of what flourishes as local news coverage withers.
Part 1:
How power company cash secretly flowed to a half-dozen news sites in Alabama and Florida that assailed their critics
When the project I'm working on becomes overwhelming, appears chaotic and I feel doomed to fail, I like to remind myself that there is real value in taking action.
Getting started, even if it just a tiny step, has amazing effects!
Just broke into software development. Currently struggling to grasp C!
