Christmas in Connecticut (1945) starring Barbara Stanwyck and Dennis Morgan. This holiday classic is of the “type A personality goes to a quaint Connecticut farm house and learns to….wait for it….draw healthy boundaries” genre. What a breath of fresh air from the chill the F out genre. Stanwyck stars as a writer at a major newspaper whose column on being a super housewife is not true. She lands up at the farm and you expect her to become more domesticated leaning into her alter ego but gosh darn it Babs will have none of that cuz she makes it clear that it ain’t her despite what she writes. Of course this film was made when the genre was establishing itself and they didn’t get the memo Babs needs to chill the F out. Fun movie.
