Writing tip: In the discussion section of a scientific manuscript the phrase "this study" is almost always ambiguous. Be sure to make clear if you are referring to the study you are reporting in the manuscript, or the study from the literature you most recently mentioned.

@BrianUmberger I usually say "the current study" for the one I'm reporting.

Though now I'm tempted to use "this better study" to be both more ambiguous _and_ inflammatory
