Today's random picture from my #Flickr albums dates back to 1984. In those days I used colour transparency film, and one of my many unfinished projects is to scan all my old slides. This picture is from a summer holiday and shows the Mer de Glace glacier as seen from the Chamonix mountain railway.

@jim_easterbrook Excellent shot! Brings back many memories of visits to Haute Savoie. I took the same photo more than once in the 1980s and 90s. Haven’t been back for a while and have recently been wondering how far the glacier has retreated. A return to Annecy, after 10 years since our last visit, is currently on the cards for next year. It’s one of my favourite places on the planet.

@jim_easterbrook I was going to edit that post to add that I too used to take mainly slides in those days. I managed to scan them all in a few years ago. Now that I’m retired, I must get around to editing my imperfect scans.

I understand that, unlike the birdsite, you can edit posts on Mastodon. Could someone please explain how?

@dxc Click on the three dots in the bottom right hand corner of the post and choose "edit". (This is with the web interface - other clients will have their own way of doing it.)

@jim_easterbrook Apparently it isn’t a feature on the mobile versions yet. I mostly view through the Mastodon iPad app.
