@cpoliticditto an important "detail" intentionally omited in the title, they are not talking about literal children but 16 to 18 adolescents.
Where I came from, that's average ages boomers were married. I still remember seen a "wholesome" documentary about a 13 yo girl marrying a 70 yo and it was consider ok because it was a Christian marriage.

@Felipe_B @cpoliticditto@mas.to No, it's actually legal to get married at younger than 16 in Michigan – you need permission from a judge, though. I have no idea how hard that is to get in practice or how often it happens. Similar is true in several other states, like California, Mississippi, and Washington. (So much for OP's narrative, I guess?)
