I think we really need to challenge the prevailing belief that peace is automatically a good thing.
Anytime two populations have an unequal power dynamic, calls for peace invariably help the side with more power, as it cements the power dynamic in place.
If we give Putin land for peace now, we teach him that even if an invasion fails militarily, he will get land out of the process. The result is not more peace, but more invasions. Did everyone forget the Nazis?

When humans invented agriculture, LAND became the most valuable property for food production and population growth. Men declared LAND as their private property and as a result a war over LAND began that has now lasted more than 5,000 years.
There is no peaceful solution to this problem as long as patriarchy and capitalism oppress humanity.
Short-term (military) solutions can certainly save lives, but they are just like a band-aid on a global tumor.
@Raven47 @gwensnyder @tofugolem They fought over land and other resources long before agriculture.
@tofugolem @Raven47 @gwensnyder no, it wasn't, at all, an attempt to do that. 😂

I'm sensitive to "but both sides" arguments in general because of the way the American media abuses such arguments to excuse the inexcusable on a variety of topics, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
