Donald Trump has many faults but Harris is wrong-- it is better to negotiate with enemies than to support endless wars. #Debate2024

@rchusid this would be a decision that has to be made in Ukraine! But it is naive to believe Putin would negotiate. He would eventually negotiate to gain power again to run over Ukraine and Europe after that. It is naive to believe that Putin would negotiate unless to his advantage

@holgerpatzelt @rchusid You might be right, but Trump still has the right idea: Europe needs to step up and deal with this. They easily can.

@ech @rchusid they do. But have you forgotten, why Germany had a policy of NOT allowing its military grow into a size that would allow it to compete with other countries??
It was Germany that threw the world into a catastrophic war and here we are suggesting its military to grow up to be able to compete against Russia? How can we be so blind of the facts of history?

@holgerpatzelt @rchusid "allow it to compete with other countries" – I am afraid that ship sailed long ago, they have perhaps the strongest military in the EU, or close to it. But worry not, they seem pretty cool these days.

@ech @rchusid I do live in Berlin, Germany (although following the debate in Las Vegas today).
Let make it clear: there is a Nazi Party that won over 30 percent of the votes in the state around Berlin and two south of it. Democracy is not a matter of course.

@holgerpatzelt @ech Democracy is in danger here but not only from Trump. So-called "centrist" Democrats often present the greater threat of authoritarianism in the US. It is Biden who has spent the last 50 years building the framework of an authoritarian state, starting in the Senate. Trump is a rank amateur compared to him.
