I have a weekend blog post ready. I finished that thing I've been writing, which now has a new title:

Why Intolerance and Extremism Happen (and how to protect democracy in a divided world)

I take on some big questions. (See the screenshot)

The conclusions are what I’ve been trying to say for several years, but I believe now I've explained it better and with more context.

This is long for a blog post. Maybe it’s really a short book.

I asked it, “What do you want to be?” It hasn’t answered, so for now, it’s a blog post.

Anyway, I hope someone finds it interesting and helpful.

Informative essay, but I fear many who need to learn it will not accept your reliance on older definitions and concepts. For example, you use the word "liberal" in a way has been consigned to history; the last time I heard someone, either left or right, under 40 use the word "liberal" in a non-negative sense was in 2015. "Neutral" is another word that no modern political segment seems willing to view in a non-negative sense. Unfortunately, I don't have handy alternatives.

@llewelly @Teri_Kanefield I feel like it's making a comeback – liberal ideals vs. the excess of the identarian left or right; is it just me?
