As you read this, remember that once sworn in as a Member of Congress you have a security clearance and the right to participate in classified briefings. Does the @HouseGOP@twitter.com trust George Santos with that responsibility? I certainly don't. https://nyti.ms/3Vt0YVd
Thinking about #Ireland this morning. A sense of scale is lost but this natural #RockFormation shaped like a bowl was absolutely huge. It formed a lip and I’m standing outside th bowl and had to scale the side to get the shot. Really amazing.

@annaoj I'm years overdue to find a new home for my photos (I have paintings @ manmadeghost.com), but here's a representative sample. Thanks and best wishes to you with your own #photography!

Yes, please, let's enjoy the holidays. However, let's also not forget what Russia is doing to #ukraine

You can donate directly to the defense of Ukraine:
It's tax-deductible in the US, too.
For every boost this post gets, I'll add a buck to my next donation.

One of my reasons for choosing Mastodon over Post was that unlike Post, Mastodon is not owned by anyone, and therefore cannot be purchased. For years to come, Elon Musk’s purchase and demise of Twitter will be studied at MBA schools as a bad example of corporate leadership. Mastodon’s decentralized structure makes such a purchase impossible.
Secondly, Post’s model of allowing users to monetize their tweets/toots, may make financial sense for those prolific writers who have a large cadre of followers, or who have corporate financing. The typical social media user, like me, has no need or desire for this functionality. And my suspicion is that Post will eventually charge, if it doesn’t already, for the ability to be listed as a “premium news provider”. What are Post’s arbitrary criteria for determining if a user can join this A-list of news providers? And how much will Post charge to become a Post A-lister? Will that charge be within the grasp of the typical small, up-and-coming writer or artist who just wants to promote their work, grow their audience, and make a little money doing so?
Thirdly, my growing distaste for social media algorithms determining what I see in my feed was big driver in my decision to choose Mastodon. It’s been very refreshing to be able to see toots that I probably would not have seen had I not started the habit of perusing Mastodon’s Federated feed. It has opened up the world of views and people for me.
As an example, about 2 weeks into my Mastodon experience, I came across this hilarious toot from @andthisismrspeacock, which humorously summed up how I started feeling about Mastodon.
Lastly, I totally agree with @BlaznK9, the key is finding the right instance. I started out mastodon.online, but felt inhibited by the 500 character limit for each toot, since my nature is to write longer, more descriptive things about my many interests - like this reply 😀 . So I switched to qoto.org, which has a character limit of 65K characters. Way more than enough for even a verbose person like me - and perhaps others who feel a need to blog.
The way the Ukrainian military is dismantling the Russian army, the United States is getting the deal of the century with the aid package we are providing.
Imagine the amount of defense spending that wasn't able to accomplish what Ukraine has done in a year.
It will take Russia decades to replenish its military if it is even possible with the economic sanctions.
The humanitarian aspect of this conflict is catastrophic. We can't waste time as millions are under the constant threat of death.
"Your money is not charity" but an investment in global security, President Zelenskyy tells the US Congress. "You can speed up our victory."
You have to know, that today #Zelenskyy is speaking not just for #Ukraine and its brave people, but every nation that has been a victim of #Russian #colonialism and #imperialism.
Absolutely. He totally framed things correctly. One terrorist state (Russia) has found another (Iran). He was extremely humble, strong, resolved, and used a lot of uniting language for not only between Ukrainians and Americans, but between both parties of Congress. What an incredible man.
What an incredible speech. I'm only one American, but I'm 100% you, President Zelenskyy and your country.
