@luke Back to the stoic saying "everything in moderation, including moderation". This also applies to imagination and self-reflection.

Having too little imagination can also be overdone. Imagine having a society that promotes being "suspicious of ALL imagination". Most people would not question the status quo. People who do would be ostracised.
The wet dream of any tyrant (material or spriritual).

As a side note, I would be curious how the Orthodox think about Mathematics, which (at least from an intuitionistic perspective) is a pure product of imagination.
