#MakerMonday let’s start a trend on #Monday of posting things you’ve #made! Can be anything, real or virtual! Here’s a treehouse I made a couple of years ago. #Makers

Now I've started Mass Effect again many years later on Steam Deck, all I want to do is play Mass Effect. Help.

@gamingonlinux I've not played any Mass Effect games, but that sounds like positive praise! I just finished God Of War 2018 and started AC: Valhalla!

Trying out for a while, is still on my main system but fancied a change on the XPS13 laptop. Pretty cosy so far.

Felt a tad rough this morning as I was out in the pub with family last night; so I decided to treat me and my colleagues to bacon sandwiches... Unfortunately my boss had the same idea and a delivery guy has just turned up with a giant box of bacon sandwiches 😂

Must talk about this prior to ordering going forward.

Hullo. So this is Mastodon, eh? Well, I'm here. And to celebrate, here's a photo I took yesterday in Kingston NY of Good Omens director Douglas directing An Unnamed Actor (on the other side of the glass) in Episode 2 of Good Omens Season 2 (Coming Next Summer).

@cortexuvula I upload to YouTube, and Odysee syncs my videos from YouTube. The sync takes anywhere from a few minutes to over an hour sometimes. So when I post the YouTube link, there is no Odysee link...yet. Might I suggest you to install the "Watch on Odysee" browser plugin? When enabled, when you click a YT link, it will take you to the Odysee video if the video exists on Odysee. If not, it just takes you to YouTube.

A play on words enters a room and stabs a dozen people. Only two survive.

Pun in, ten dead.

@laces Good to hear from someone doing it themselves, I started doing a last night, but I might commit to if it gives you a more flushed out perspective.

@elevynn Hi Michael, I can vouch for #TheOdinProject as I'm about halfway through it at the moment.

It gives you a really thorough understanding of things like Git, testing, and Object Orientated Programming than a course on a platform like Codecademy wouldn't give you.

I've had a couple of attempts at learning a language before, but TOP has really made it stick. Happy to answer questions about it if you have any.

My first post on Mastodon, so I figure it should be a picture of a cat taken on film

I'm gonna keep posting this until one of you fucking boosts it

# Understanding Functions using the "Function Room" narrative

I use narratives to learn stuff… and to teach, too

What's a narrative? It's a way of connecting events or facts in a form of a story

But I promised to talk about The **Function Room**…

so read on…
---

My mental image of a computer program is that of a small creature working in a room.

When you start writing a program, the Main Room is empty except for some shelves and a small red booklet called "built-in"

Monty — that's the name of the little creature doing all the hard work — will look around the room whenever you use any name.
