Yeah, after some ruminating, I'm fairly convinced the mass-market success path for the fediverse requires one organization launching a fantastic mobile app that is also a Mastodon service, and most new users don't learn anything about different servers, at least not for a while.

That won't be sufficient, things might still fail in a dozen ways, but I think it's necessary.

Now that #Chanukkah is almost here I JUST realized that I forgot to share #holiday #greetings.

This is wild, and yet once again, not a surprise (sigh).
AOL feared the internet too, and tried to shut it down. We know how that played out.

It's fascinating and disturbing watching people take the plain language of the new policy and twist it to mean "well, they're really only going after spammers..."

It is clearly not that. There are two separate sections, one specifically about content *on the tweet level* and another on suspension of accounts.

People are happily concluding the latter precludes the former and it's driving me mad.

FRIENDS: We are MeidasTouch, the unapologetically pro-democracy organization many of you know from Twitter, YouTube and elsewhere.

With the chaos at Twitter, we want to build our platform here on Mastodon to make sure we can continue to spread our message.

Can you please BOOST this post, FOLLOW our account and encourage your followers to do the same?

So many new people are joining Mastodon, I recommend using Fedifinder every few days to find all your Twitter follows who just showed up. And put your Mastodon handle somewhere in your Twitter name/description/url so these tools can find you! fedifinder.glitch.me/

The great irony is that by having a "private" plane all to himself, Elon has bought the OPPOSITE of anonymity. If he flew commercial, or even just chartered planes for each trip, his travel patterns would be much more opaque. But my using an inherently trackable jet linked specifically to him makes his movements effectively public.

It must be tough to be a billionaire. So much money, so many tradeoffs.

Today is #TransDayofRemembrance when we honor and remember trans lives taken by violence. How horrifying that a deadly attack upon the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs should occur right before this solemn day.
Hate isn’t born in us. It is taught. It must end.
This starts with our political leaders, who must cease their cynical attacks against our community before another attack occurs.
Call out the hate. Remind them of its consequences. Hold them to account.
