Dear people, dear #Donnies,
Let’s welcome the wonderful, critical, funny and wise freethinker @stephenfry.
He left 12.4 MILLION followers on Twitter, and joined us here.
I am in awe. Cheers!
@engelbart It's less than 100 kb in size, has a tiny memory imprint, and is super fast. All by the nature of it being written in pure assembly. As a result you can run it on anything, especially where NC at its clones would be detrimental to performance. I use it on all my vintage PCs, including 2 machines that run at around 8Mhz & have limited conventional memory.
@ibreznik have you read bughouse book?
Anyone interested in #bughouse ?
Super cool ... The ancient Romans had all sorts of shorthands and codes, some of which have yet to be deciphered, thousands of years later.
If you followed Twitter from the beginning you will know that many features (such as hashtags) were innovations that came from users and developers, not the company itself. Let's put that kind of energy into a project that belongs to us.
Pretty surprised #Debirdify is full running relatively smoothly. I seriously have no idea how to run a website for more than, say, give users and I hadn't touched a web programming framework in over ten years when I started making it a week ago. 😅
📣 I wrote a new blog post!
Mastodon for #Twitter Escapees
https://dramsch.net/articles/mastodon-for-twitter-escapees/
Basically a short intro about the platform from someone that isn't deep in the #fediverse and just making sense of things.
Maybe it helps someone else from the #TwitterMigration?
I wanted to host my own personal Mastodon because my online identity should be in the hands of me instead of a platform and its leadership. Mastodon Federation seems to be working way better since the last time I gave it a try. Let's see how much of an operation burden this will become in the long term.
Ok, das habe ich anscheinend recht gut im Gespür.
Und ich gebs zu: Ich habe viele Twitter-User geblockt...
Something to note: if you are setting up a Mastodon account, even as a fallback:
LIST YOUR MASTODON ADDRESS IN YOUR TWITTER BIO.
There are scraper tools your followers can use that check their follows and import any that have a Mastodon address in the bio.
Every little helps.
Currently, I'm pretty interested in mlgan. #ml #gan. And experimenting a bit.
M current job is try to implement something like Chernoff faces to my own photo.
Idea: I have a lot of processes to monitor, i sum them up with a Chernoff face every morning. It's good but i want to use real photo for this.
If anyone is interested I'd like to share more
Another useful bit of #Fediverse lore of use to the #TwitterMigration of people who are #NewHere is this terrific 28-minute presentation by Derek Caelin at ActivityPub Conference 2020 on what happens when wingnuts start spreading hate in our space.
I found it pretty eye-opening, myself:
