Hi. It's me. The Oatmeal guy.
I coded a word-guessing game.
Here’s how it works:
- Every day for the next month, I’m going to upload a word. Your job is to guess what it is.
- You can ask for clues, but they cost points. Try to use as few of them as possible.
- After thirty days, the game will end.
- The game starts right now. Share your scores in the comments.
-The Oatmeal
P.S. I recommend starting with the “visual clue.” It’s usually a funny drawing.

If you're seeing all these #BandcampFriday posts and thinking, "Eh, why bother?" let me point out that the $15 you spend on Spotify this month goes almost entirely to guys with "executive" in their job title/description, with the remainder going almost entirely to already hugely successful artists who, frankly, do not need more money. No one cares you spent the money.
That same $15 on Bandcamp today, if spent on an indie artist? About $14.50 goes to the artist, and you might make their week.
Wise words from a wise woman....

"We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words."
Is everyone aware of the sea-level rise we are causing now? 1 meter will be catastrophic for many coastal cities and regions.
At 2 °C warming we comit the world to a long-term rise by 8-13 meters until the ice sheets come to a new equilibrium. Source: http://www.ipcc.ch

What’s happening in Turkey is more of a like a swarm of earthquakes. Swarms are more often associated with volcanic systems though, as magma moves. In a strike/slip fault system, you essentially have a deck of cards sliding past each other.
When a section locks up for a long time & then moves, stresses are transferred to other places in the fault system, and then some of them move.
The amount of energy being released over ther is incredible
