Befriending crows is a wonderful thing.

I have many crow friends at home and at work. They bring joy at unexpected moments and can rescue a miserable day even without shaking down the dust of snow that Robert Frost described.

This thread is an updated version of one I posted at the bird site in July 2019.

I left Reykjavik early morning and headed 3 hours north to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula to shoot Kirkjufell.
We arrived at the famous peak. It was a downpour. My heart sank. Exhausted and still to early to go eat dinner, I took a nap in the car for “a few minutes.” A few minutes turned into an hour.
As I slept, the sun had come out behind me and woke me up. I turned and looked at Kirkjufell. My jaw dropped. Rainbow over Kirkjufell!

Yes, every server is different. But there are clusters of commonalities, shared values & transferable practices. These are foundations we can build on to prevent a GMail scenario.

One of the most shocking things I learned upon moving to Mastodon is that it turns out that on Twitter, I almost never got to see or read the posts of people I actually followed. The shit-post algorithm curated a hellscape for all of us.

Pretty explosive news. "ByteDance, the parent company of video-sharing platform TikTok, found that employees tracked multiple journalists covering the company, improperly gaining access to their IP addresses and user data in an attempt to identify whether they had been in the same locales as ByteDance employees."
