Since I migrated server, my #introduction vanished, so I'll write another one.

Hi #ScienceMastodon, I'm Mattia, a theoretical #quantum #physicist at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel in #Paris. My field of research is #QuantumOptics and I specialise in the theory of #QuantumCorrelations in non-Gaussian quantum states. My favourite tools are #WignerFunctions and phase space representations in general. I recently also ventured in superresolution #Imaging and #QuantumMetrology.

I also like #coffee

#introduction I am a Professor at Duke University and part of the Duke Quantum Center. I am a faculty member in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics, and Chemistry. My main research interests are quantum error correction, quantum control, ion trap quantum computing, and cold molecular ions. I mostly use social media to read about science and technology, advertise research positions, and promote papers. I occasionally post links to my short stories, songs, and video games.

Hi Everyone, I'm Evan, a postdoc studying van der waals heterostructures at MIT. I focus on insulating states, such as Chern Insulators. I did my PhD at Yale in superconducting qubits. In addition to physics, I love hardware hacking and have an affinity for the old Tektronix 500 series, and am building a machine to rewind their HV transformers. #introduction #hardware #physics #quantumcomputing

So, for anyone who might be finding me on here and doesn't know me from elsewhere - first of all, hello!

Second, allow me to introduce myself. I'm a research fellow in theoretical quantum condensed matter physics, with a particular interest in disordered quantum systems and in developing new computational techniques. I'm originally from Scotland, spent 5 years in Paris, and now live in Berlin.

You can learn more about me at www.steventhomson.co.uk.

Looking forward to meeting everyone on here!

What we call "free will" is the ability to retroactively model the outcomes of different choices. "If I acted differently, I'd be in a different situation." That's a very advanced mental ability that humans acquired relatively recently (12k years ago?).

Now that I put an avi and header up I guess I can do an #introduction. I'm Katharine, I contribute to adn write a lot of #julialang (since 2015!), work in #quantum, and as you can see from the pics, ride bikes and talk about them a lot.

I also spend time with:
- GPU programming
- HPC
- Climbing
- My two cats!

Excited to check out the community here 🤗

I guess I will also write a little #Introduction

Hi everyone, I'm Mattia and I'm here to follow and discuss a wide range of topics. However, I mainly post about #physics.

I'm a tenured researcher at the #CNRS, based in #Paris. My field of research is #quantum #optics, where I do theoretical work on non-Gaussian quantum states of light. I've recently also gotten interested in the use of quantum techniques perform more precise estimates of parameters (e.g. distance between light sources).

This kind of non-local connection, known as quantum entanglement, can’t be used for sending messages faster than light. It can’t. It absolutely cannot. If you remember one thing from this thread, remember this. YOU CAN'T SEND FASTER-THAN-LIGHT SIGNALS WITH QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT.

#Introduction

Hi, I'm Doro!
I'm a #physics #PhD student in Hannover, Germany! I experimentally work on #quantum sensors with #UltracoldAtoms, specifically on large-scale #AtomInterferometry!
I'm also a fan of open source software (#FOSS), #Linux, and I code in #python for work and for fun!

I'll use this account to post and boost about these topics, but you will also see a lot of #MastoArt boosted here! So many great artists here who deserve to be seen!

nice article from Science about #AcademicTwitter and #ScienceTwitter ( #ScienceMastodon ? #AcademicMastodon ?). I managed to have the last word in it, and this is something I've been thinking a lot about. (Also @ct_bergstrom is in here!)

#Mars images from the #NASA archives.

Intriguing Martian rocks surround NASA’s #Perseverance rover in this panorama showing an ancient river delta, made from images captured by the Mastcam-Z camera system. This 2.5-billion-pixel mosaic, which combines 1,118 individual frames, is the most detailed landscape panorama ever returned from Mars.

Hello #ScienceMastodon! Here's my #introduction: I'm an online editor at Physics World magazine. Professionally, I'm interested in all areas of #physics, but especially #quantum, applied/industrial science and anything related to #diversityinscience. I also have side interests in #history, #politics, #travel and #writing (not necessarily in that order). I suspect I'll mostly be posting cool stories about physics while I find my feet in a new community, but I might branch out later!

My : I am a physicist from (Charles University) trying to produce and confine the matter similar to one predicted to exist in cores of white dwarf stars. I would like to exploit it in technological applications. Currently, I am building the confinement device. That means I am involved in a bit of and microwave at the same time.
The group I lead was founded in 2021 and currently consists of two PhD students, one master degree student and one postdoc. We are just in the beginning, but it is exciting (and stressing at the same time, to be honest).

So I have made this account in and have no idea how that would work. I will try to post something about my sometimes.
