'Last July the first predictive clinical test based on the gut microbiome was approved in Europe. The test, called BiomeOne, was developed by Vienna-based biotech BiomeDx. It analyzes the DNA in gut microbes of patients with cancer and predicts who are most likely to have success with immunotherapy.'
I remember this well.

How pessimism about renewables was proved wrong.
Incumbent German electricity suppliers said in 1993 that renewables could never provide more than 4% of electricity.
In 2022 50% of German electricity was from renewables, mainly wind and solar.

That separated, protected lane ABSOLUTELY fights #ClimateChange.
And air pollution. And inequality. And preventable diseases. And public health cost increases. And cost of living increases. And tax increases. And it supports economic devt & allows more trips in a lot less space.

I’ve just tried Redefine Meat’s plant-based lamb and beef. They are, to my palate, indistinguishable from the originals. Taste and texture bang on: I’d challenge anyone to pick them out in a blind tasting.
Change is coming, faster than I thought possible.
Here’s the “lamb”🧵

Brazil's President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has appointed Amazon activist Marina Silva as environment minister. It's the reappointment of a woman who carried Brazil's most effective strategy for reducing deforestation. http://apne.ws/yZQDxa2
Humans can be fallible, violence prone, dangerous to themselves, other species and the world, true.
But humans can also cooperate, achieve amazing feats, and even save the planet from devastation.
I considered this when I heard that 70 years after the first use of atomic fusion, humans have achieved *ignition* at the Lawrence Livermore Lab. That means more energy was produced from a fusion reaction than was used to power it. We have a long way to go, but this is a huge milestone! #Hope #Fusion
