Imagine a New Political System of Government

In this new system of government, there is no longer the figure of a president or a single head of state. There is only the State, which may be represented by different individuals depending on the occasion. The three powers are: the Legislative, the Judiciary, and the People. The Legislative Power drafts the laws. The Judiciary Power adjudicates. The Power of the People, within a secure online system, votes and approves.

Imagine um novo sistema político de governo

Nesse novo sistema de governo, não existe mais a figura de um presidente ou único líder de Estado. Há apenas o Estado, que pode ser representado por diferentes pessoas de acordo com a ocasião. Os três poderes são: Legislativo, Judiciário e Povo. O Poder Legislativo elabora as leis. O Poder Judiciário julga. O Poder do Povo, dentro de um sistema online seguro, vota e aprova.

“A ciência não tá nem aí para sua opinião”. Essa frase é uma grande mentira.

É mentira e, além disso, soa arrogante. Eu entendo a intenção de quem a disse, de enfatizar que opiniões pessoais não mudam fatos. No entanto, o mais correto seria afirmar que a opinião de alguém não altera uma verdade ou um fato comprovado. A ciência não é dona da verdade e nem pretende ser. Ela erra, e errar faz parte do processo de tentar compreender o desconhecido.

A moment of peace

Massaguaçu Beach, Caraguatatuba, Brazil, 1990s, school vacation, summer heat. I remember it like it was yesterday. That atlantic ocean, that sand, happy kids, my family. At that time, my knowledge was very limited. I didn’t know what war was, or dictatorship, or any of those things. At most, I knew about Tiradentes, Pedro Álvares Cabral, and Dom Pedro I. Of course, I was just a child.

Forbidden for children

I should be focused on studying or writing my thesis, but I decided to write mediocre things on this blog instead. Today, October 12th, is Children’s Day in Brazil. It’s also the day of "Nossa Senhora", the country’s patron saint, and the day of my aunt’s funeral — my father’s sister — who also passed away during the first weeks of October.
