@vitaminsludge@mastodon.ie I've been many times, I used to go every year before the pandemic. So so so glad to be visiting what's sort of become my second home again.

In two and a half days I'll be in the Philippines. I still need to decide if I will be gaming with a or a

Anyway, I'll be taking a couple of books too :D

A big benefit of Mastodon is that it is less single-country-centric than most social media I've experienced.

Nothing against the United States in any way, but as someone who doesn't live there it's nice to be exposed to people and issues from all over the world in a more balanced way than what normally happens on sites like Twitter where it's mostly USA, USA, USA.

Regular reminder: if your site or app doesn’t work in Firefox, it’s broken.

I lived through the “this site requires and/or is best in IE” era, and I’d rather burn it all down than return to that.

Pro-tip: Firefox does most things better anyway. Give it a spin and enjoy a less-tracked web.

@stevoooo@emacs.ch It became real for me, when third party clients stopped working :(. It’s bizarre! Such a massive brand just “killed” like that - not even the American and British auto-industries destroyed their legacy with this much gusto.

I've swapped playing chess puzzles for doing code katas over the last few days. I've not coded for work for years, but I've been learning a bit of Python and I've just made it to 5 kyū yellow belt on Code Wars.

@stevoooo@emacs.ch agreed. Although it’s sort of fun to watch Twitter implode.

What do you think about #Chromebook / ChromeOS devices? Most works inside of a browser / chrome. Any hardware device you would recommend? Should be small and work with usb-c Dockingstation...

@AHg I like them a lot. But I use Crostini (the Linux container) most of the time and hence I prefer Intel based ones. Don’t go thinking they are just a browser, they are much more than that, specially if you use Android and Linux applications with them. I’d not go cheap, find something with a Core i5 CPU and at least 8GB of RAM.

I’ve been playing around with Remote Desktop on various computers, and I thought a quick little how-to could be useful, so I made a video about it.

I cover remoting into a Linux PC, and Windows & macOS as well, plus one way to remote into a VM, and an extra solution for #Linux users to get better results than basic VNC.

Maybe it will be helpful:
