Today involved 2 flights, 2 bus rides, 1 boat ride, and 2 rides in minivans. Tired…

@whimsical_productions@mastodon.world I love your artwork! 👍

looks great in photos. But it’s rather touristy and way way way busy!

@JJFlash I’ve wondered and I think that perhaps he doesn’t care if he loses billions of dollars, he’s super rich and spoilt enough that he does it for kicks to annoy people and have a laugh. He’s certainly a peculiar man.

@FranckLeroy to be fair, he was just dicking around with math.

This is neat, I feel like Masto turned a corner recently on "being a place to find news and stuff"

Seems like we're getting that thing where news ripples across the network, thing, which was part of why Twitter was useful. Probably crossed some active user threshold necessary for that network effect to kick in or something. Yay!

(though thankfully the effect is less uh, "screaming into the void"-ish here, just folks talking about a thing)

65.3 million of Elon’s followers have zero people that follow them. 62.3 million of them have never tweeted. Dude is the Pied Piper of Hamelin for bots

learning some interesting things about my home automation tonight, such as apparently the lights don't actually automatically turn off when I fall asleep, my wife's just been doing that for months

"However, I am generally skeptical of arguments that Large Language Models such the GPT series...are on the pathway to AGI...I will also try to convey a sense for why it is easy to talk about the so-called “recipe for AGI” in the abstract but why physics itself will prevent any sudden and unexpected leap from where we are now to AGI or super-AGI."

@douglaspynn@mstdn.ca @petergleick I thought I was having a conversation. Bye sir.

@douglaspynn@mstdn.ca @petergleick the murky guidelines and the obvious continued existence of the virus means that most of the world population has accepted the end of the pandemic as the 5th of May 2023, but some have not. It means that most people have accepted the risk like they accept the risk of auto accidents, it’s much to do with how risk averse people are.
