When I got to Manila I posted a photo saying “I’m not in Europe anymore” just SUVs everywhere, now here’s a photo around the corner of my house… definitely in Europe again, small hatchbacks everywhere.

On #MasterSystemMonday here’s “Ghostbusters”. Activision’s 1984 game was originally released on multiple home computers before being ported to #Sega #MasterSystem by Compile in 1987. The game is loosely based on the hit film of the same name.

@ThePlant don't know. I need a list to choose something 😆

@vitaminsludge@mastodon.ie multiple reasons, safety and environmental reasons. As someone who has driven the Philippines plenty they have sort of started to not belong on the roads, out in provinces they can still work, but in cities like Manila or Cebu, they are not ideal anymore.

@vitaminsludge@mastodon.ie similar vehicles exist today like the LiteAce FX, but they are quite small. The minibuses that are supposed to be the Jepney equivalents are big but very pricey.

@vitaminsludge@mastodon.ie I don't know if that's still a thing. Getting any vehicle imported into the Philippines is complex, and expensive.

@adama thanks to auto correct for changing 💩 to shirt.

@adama I have some net worth, but I need to get my shirt sorted and invested better 😄

I’ve been away enjoying the beach and my box now needs lots of update…

There’s a massive need to replace the Jeepney, they are banned from many places nowadays and something that’s affordable for drivers and safe for modern roads is needed. I hope Toyota solves this problem.

The Toyota Tamaraw/Rangga Concepts are some of the coolest things Toyota has done recently and I hope they get to production in Thailand and the Philippines. Cheaper and more basic than a HiLux and ready for almost ANY use! theautoph.com/n-2023-250/?fbcl

@adama my experience too! If only I could keep my current job abroad.

@gpowerf in the test world, where oscilloscopes and four quadrant power supplies cost as much as cars, everything has web servers and is controlled via Ethernet. But in the land of commodity cheap electronics, where they want you to have to look at their logo every time you use your phone, suddenly it's all apps.

App, app, app, app, app… everything seems to need an app, how many apps can we install? Why? Can’t a washing machine or fan run a web server instead of needing another damn app? We can’t install an app for everything!

@renchap this might even drive people to change instances of their instance doesn’t support it!

Full text search has been merged in #Mastodon `main` branch, and will be in the next (and final?) 4.2.0 beta 🎉

It is opt-in, so it will take some time to be filled with people content as they enable their profile to be indexed, but this was one of the most wanted Mastodon features for some time.

We plan to deploy it to mastodon.social and mastodon.online in the coming days to have a bit more feedback on it and see how it behaves in the wild.
