This is apparently incomprehensible to some people on this website, but to many people it’s actually a good and beneficial feature that Apple doesn’t let you install software on your iPhone from anywhere else.

@sdw What if we just educated users on how to safely use a computer instead of preventing every user from using basic features? A not insignificant number of people are competent enough to use their own hardware without hand holding. I say this as a long time Apple user. We should not be thanking corporations for restricting what we can do with the hardware we supposedly own.

People are taught to drive cars. So many drivers, in whose cars I’ve rode as a passenger, have demonstrated that they have little comprehension of how to use the features built into their car: aircon, phone integration/hands free use, in-car entertainment.,,

@guardeddon @sdw we are taught to drive, not to use Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay. I’m sure if that was included as part of drivers ed, fewer people would have these problems. Regardless, anecdotally I would not be able to say I’ve had the same experience in people’s cars.
