I propose a personal challenge for 2019. Nothing major, but it might give you a little bit of perspective.

In 2019, try your best to avoid as much media as possible that is based on IPs created before, say, your date of birth. (For me, that would include “Star Wars” as well as Marvel and DC films.) Also try to avoid reboots, remakes, and “rebakes” (remakes disguised as reboots).

#FindNewStories and give them a chance. 👍

@Stephen_Stone I like this partially, but would take it one step further and suggest you read new stories of people from other countries or of different races than you. Also, I'll never give up my b+w movie binging.

@hashtaggrammar Well, like I said: “Try your best”. I mean, I know I’m gonna see “Avengers 4” next year, but I want to make those exceptions few and far between. 🙂

My broader idea was about finding new stories—stories we might have avoided partially because we feel more comfortable with the IPs of our youth (and our parents’ adulthoods).

I do appreciate the addition of the “other countries/different races“ idea, however, and I would add “women/trans people” to that as well. 👍
