@LinuxToday what debate? It is free & open source software; package maintainers can do what they want about the package! Not happy? Change the license!!! 🫶

@hellvolution @LinuxToday users can also choose not to use Debain. I don't, for example. But imposing a biased opinion on hundreds of people and create breaking changes is really really stupid. The best example is the crap that Debian did to Python. Python is horrible in packaging for users thanks to Debian choosing dist-packages instead of site-packages, and also intentionally misinterpreting FHS to mix /usr/local and /usr prefixes. Sorry but there's no doubt Debian packagers being misguided given the evidences.

@luis @LinuxToday but that's how Linux works! You use the distro you want to, or create your own. And that's all right!
I use Debian since 2002; I can guarantee you it is super safe AND super stable (even using testing or sid).
You don't even need to use that app on debian as a .deb; there are lots of ways you can skip the "official" package.
What people can't complain is that the folks responsible for that package are "wrong". As I said, that software is free & open source. If the devs are bothered, they can change its license!

There's no need for drama! There are tons of Linux distros & also, different ways to install/compile something for your Linux distro flavor!

@luis @LinuxToday you can appImage it, or flatpak, or use the distro's .deb, or use alien, or compile it...
No need for drama.

@luis @LinuxToday and, btw, if the user is not using Debian, why is he complaining about a Debian package? 😂🤣😂🤣😂

@hellvolution @LinuxToday because it changes how people support code. A lot of people need to do tricks to work with debian in Python because they split the standard library. I might not use Debian, but I may be a developer that supports the "Python" package and get complaints because Debian packagers do it differently

@luis @LinuxToday so don't support Debian at all, if you hate it so much...
Or just flatpak/appImage it...
There's the Slackware way, the Debian way, the Gentoo way, the Arch way...

You can say Debian sucks, it is your right to; same way I can say Debian is amazing, and I support the Debian way, secure n stable/rock solid packages... And I thank all the packagers, for their work n also, for reducing bloatware/unnecessary libs when it comes to Python and LOTS of other languages!

If you need the bloatware, just install it and all of the -doc and -dev packages... Ain't rocket science!

@hellvolution @LinuxToday yeah, dont support the most used distro in the Linux ecosystem. I can guess you never been a maintainer of such important packages.

You are actually blindly biased by yourself, despite a logical take. From all distros you mentioned, the one that actively patches upstream code in downstream is mostly Debian.

My understanding is that you believe that standard library is bloatware, and because of that, if you were a packager of whatever distro, you would split the standard library.
That's crazy to me. I feel the anxiety miles away of an upstream dev with rains of tickets because of blindfolded people that think this way.

Another thing that I just cant support this decision is, supposedly, it was for the sake of security, but no security bulletin was proven to be warmful for KeepassXC mentioned features, so its purely opinionated.

Also yeah, I can just not use Debian... Kinda, if you are not forced to use it at work.
