My team at work just launched new research on the #TwitterMigration: We analyze which platforms are growing - especially #Mastodon, #Tumblr & #Post.

We look at which sites users are adding to their Twitter bios, posting to their friends about & downloading apps for.

Please do boost this, and love to hear any comments or feedback on it!

@tchambers Interesting data but it doesn't measure some important statistics. Namely, how many of the people trying various new platforms are sticking with them. From my own highly unscientific observations vast majority of people I follow who created accounts are not actively using it. many definitely just went back to as I see them regularly posting there. but not all. Some say they are on Post and a few on Hive. On the other hand Mastodon IS still growing at a steady pace. It remains unclear where it's all heading.

@herid btw: anecdotal data but seeing a 70 percent retention rate so far at the instance I run - from the thousands of new users who joined during Musk take over.

@tchambers interesting. that seems to be a much higher rate than among the people I follow. How do you measure retention btw?

@herid studying churn will take a couple months of time to get our first picture….

@herid for my own instance the admin tools display active users over time since their sign up in aggregate.
