it looks like #bigtech have bought themselves a Senate majority leader who intends to kill a couple of bipartisan (!) bills aimed at reining in worst monopolistic practices of #Apple and #Google. EU has passed similar legislation so I am hoping US will too eventually but Schumer's obstructionism is deeply troubling.

If these companies weren't allowed to gatekeep the apps people can put on their phones we would all have way more useful and personalized devices.

I am particularly upset about the Open App Markets Act which would break the App Store monopoly. It passed the Senate Judiciary Committee 20-2! How often something like this happens? Yet Schumer is killing it.
