Pair of Ring-necked ducks on the lake today. Very shy, hard to get anything good with even a 600mm lens.

I can see the finish line now. Another week to go. Silver maples may get buddy today or tomorrow, sugars will be ok. Up over 41 gallons bottled. Topping my previous best season by 12 gallons...and who knows what's yet to happen here at the end.

Out here in the cold wind making syrup. Anyone want to bring me a beer?

Clearly child labor is a problem. The company advertising in my Insta feed is most certainly hiring 13 year old boys to name their products.

Hit 30 gallons for the season and we're not done yet! Some of the biggest runs are probably yet to happen. This is the most syrup I've produced in any season. Last year was the previous best at 29.2 gallons.

7 more gallons. Makes 23 for the year and we'll be boiling again tomorrow!

Matched last year's sap collection...and it's only March 1st.

Slow lately. Not horrible to get a break though. Bottled up what I boiled last week. Another 5.8 gallons. Just over 16 gallons bottled up this season. Still February. Looks like it's going to get nuts again.

Did some today with the club. Went 5 for 5 on flights. No long walks. No broken anything. Great day of flying.

Finished this little gut-punch of a book during lunch. The story hits home; having grown up on a farm where there were a lot of small farms (key word: were). sneezingcow.com/
