It's the end of January. Now I start obsessing over the weather forecasts to decide when I should tap the trees for making . Last runs of tubing will go up this weekend.

It's still early, but the first couple weeks of Feb might be decent, then it might cool off for the rest of the month. I've made a lot of syrup tapping early, and with vacuum and check valve spiles, the trees will run until April...just not sure I want two full months of craziness.

Will have to just keep watching and take my best guess. This winter has been weird and overall warm. Don't want to go too late either.

Wake up and see the winter weather advisory has been upgraded to a winter storm warning. 6-10" of snow. Good, about time.

Had to rearrange the office today for a new bookshelf and Rosie had the best day ever.

The opening chapter of this book hits you like a 300 pound defensive lineman. A literary decleater. I'm not far in but I know parts of this story. I have watched it play out where I grew up (where the author lives).

In a sure sign I'm ready for the weekend, I spent way too much time trying to figure out why a trio of `grep -v`s were excluding every filename I was looking for until I realized one regex matched part of the file path. Beer please.

Pretty much ready to fly. Need to install the recovery gear and go. 5.25" diameter, 47" long Doorknob. 38mm motor mount. Planning I180 for the first flight.

@evn To be clear(er), that pattern is all paint.

@evn Thanks, mostly just sanded off the oxidation to where the paint was decent-ish. Some spots got down to metal, some didn't.

Finished up the full rebuild of the Rockshox Yari that lives on my Trek Stache. Sanded off the oxidized black paint and gave it a bit better finish. (I hope). Now, stickers...what to do?

"This water is hard."

Our local swans returned this morning just as tiny parts of the lake opened up (WTF, it's January).

Wish I felt the same about my job as I do ice cream.

Honesty, life would be way better if it all was like ice cream.

@bob_some_ale Found the RAW files. And, with some tweaking, I'm going to go with Burr Oaks. Bark and branching seem to match.

@bob_some_ale I thought they were oaks, but I am probably wrong. I'll have find the old RAW file and see if I can tell from the bark and branching. They may be sugar maples...which I should know at a glance 😆

Two old sentries watching over a field in Southeastern Wisconsin. Shot quite a few years ago, but still a favorite of mine.

Time for service of the Rock Shox Yari on my Stache. If I'm going to have it all apart, I might as well take care of the oxidizing flat black paint, right?
