Banff black bear. Just up the hill from the campsite. We saw six black bears in various spots during our two weeks of hiking. Sadly, no grizzlies.

Athabasca Glacier. Jasper National Park.

Walking on this glacier was a life-changing experience. Beauty in every aspect you view, but fear and sadness seeing where it used to be. 100 more years and it will cease to be. Seeing some things in person hit a lot harder than reading or seeing photos.

Our guide Mel from Icewalks was awesome! I just wish we had done the full day vs the half. 😃

@cetan It's really cold, but I think so.

When we were hiking downhill at Helen Lake, some dude decided to swim....naked. unexpected show 🤢

Moraine Lake, Banff. July 22nd. We braved the excess of humanity there so we could check it off the list. It's gorgeous, very gorgeous, and that's why it's so popular. Thankfully you can no longer drive to it and need to schedule/reserve shuttle tickets (which can be challenging).

Loon in a light rain. Chephren Lake. Banff National Park July 27, 2023.

Just got back from hiking in the Canadian Rockies for a few weeks. I see everything is still fucked up...

D'oh. Friday, not Saturday. Oof. I need a vacation.

Ready for a big send on Saturday. BT60 Goblin version 3 and its G80-13T motor.

@brewcitychaser If you're looking for something to do over the next few days. I'll be there Thursday through Saturday. White Outback. ldrs41.com/

Life's been busy. Spent a week camping and riding, and then needed to get a new yard shed built as soon as we got back...making good progress. After that, I need to build a (fire)wood shed...someday I'll get to ride bikes again...

Also got the enjoyment of swapping a rear hub on the Outback today. Oof. Much hammering and swearing.

Who's flying at LDRS? I'll be there, since it's our local field.

@nixCraft Micropolis. IIRC, it's a fork of the original SimCity.

Now and then I still manage to take a photo I'm happy with. Rare thing.

Dells of the Eau Claire River

Put a new blanket on the bed and these two haven't moved all day.

Not every flight goes to plan, and today that's how it went. 7.5 out of 9 were successful. The half a point was for a cluster rocket that didn't fully light off the rail (3 out of 4), but was still recovered.

Three pics. The smashed one is the newest version of a BT60 Goblin. Again the chute release pin didn't let go despite several successful tests with the small chute bundle. It made it to 2878' on an Aerotech F67C motor.

The black sleek one is an upscale Estes Ninja, 2.5" diameter. Flew on an Aerotech F40W. Perfect flight to 1500'.

The skyracha rocket, a 4" upscale Big Daddy, flew great on a H130W to 1354'

Here's the second version of the BT60 29mm motored Goblin, ready to fly this weekend. Shakedown will be on a F67W. Loaded with tracker, chute release and Eggtimer Apogee. Fingers crossed all goes well, then we shoot for 4k feet with a G80 at LDRS.

Paint is Krylon gloss rich plum with Testors Purple Fog color shift over it.
