Trying to find people I relate to on Mastodon. Please boost if you:

-want to say y'all but do not because you are not a southerner and it would feel inauthentic.

-once saw a psychic who told you that you will die in a Jimmy Fallon-related incident.

-think that cops should give you a chance to get out of a speeding ticket if you can make them laugh.

-poke the ground in front of you with a stick before each step to make sure it is not quicksand.

We have a problem with squirrels eating our jack o' lanterns, so I just work with them. I need an idea for this year! #halloween #pumpkins #squirrel

Took the boat out of the lake and put it in hibernation. Will see it again in April.

I am glad the shrinkwrapping skills I gained bagging sand in the sand mine as a teenager are still there. What places charge for this is just stupid.

For those who live where it snows.... Scare yourself this Halloween. Take a look at the tires on the cars you see in parking lots; then realize the owner is going to try to get through winter on them.

Took the day off from work and spent some of it making raspberry freezer jam....then went and picked more. Getting a pint and a half every other day now from our small patch.

Yesterday. The kiddo. Did some fun rides even after he raced hard the day before in >90F temps.

Hey Ricardo at Motorola....you're testing Device Help notifications in production...

Really looking forward to 98F with a 78F dewpoint and 15+ mph winds today...

My son's out trimming bushes in the back yard. I ask out my office window how it's going. "This is a pain in the ass!" he replies.

Welcome to my life, kid!

He's doing a great job though. Things look really good.

Banff. Healy to Simpson pass loop/lollipop hike. Probably one of the most gorgeous hikes ever. At the pass, it was water and wildflowers, with a bonus view over to the amazing Pharoah Peaks. 12.9 miles with 3058' of gradual gain. Not a difficult hike at all. Going there? Do this hike.

More pics in thread.

Banff black bear. Just up the hill from the campsite. We saw six black bears in various spots during our two weeks of hiking. Sadly, no grizzlies.

Athabasca Glacier. Jasper National Park.

Walking on this glacier was a life-changing experience. Beauty in every aspect you view, but fear and sadness seeing where it used to be. 100 more years and it will cease to be. Seeing some things in person hit a lot harder than reading or seeing photos.

Our guide Mel from Icewalks was awesome! I just wish we had done the full day vs the half. 😃

Moraine Lake, Banff. July 22nd. We braved the excess of humanity there so we could check it off the list. It's gorgeous, very gorgeous, and that's why it's so popular. Thankfully you can no longer drive to it and need to schedule/reserve shuttle tickets (which can be challenging).

Loon in a light rain. Chephren Lake. Banff National Park July 27, 2023.

Just got back from hiking in the Canadian Rockies for a few weeks. I see everything is still fucked up...

D'oh. Friday, not Saturday. Oof. I need a vacation.
