Now the way the Internet Archive is doing mastodon is how more organisations and celebs should be joining the fediverse!

They have a dedicated in house instance, which lets you identify official staff, and gives them control and security over their content, whilst also allowing people and instances to opt in or out of interacting with them

One of the things that turned me off to that other place a few years ago was when I noticed the trend to talk less about your life, and more about whatever outraged you.

I see more then a few people have brought that bad habit over here recently. I'm not saying it didn't exist here before, it's just increased at a notable rate.

So let's boost what's going on in people lives. Boost the foodie pics. Boost the messy living room pics. Boost the Costco selfie.

#Gouache #painting I did last year. This image was censored by #Instagram. I honestly don't understand why. I think we put too much trust on the abilities of AI to judge #art correctly. I was very proud of that painting, but it had only few likes, because it was viewable only if someone was specifically came to my profile. I had the issue 3 more times on IG with other (safe) art.

For my part, I've always seen them as something at the discretion of the author. As the reader, you have a plethora of tools to disengage from unwanted content on Mastodon—with even better filters coming in 4.0—and harassment is not one of them. People who are arriving now have as much right to be here and bring their own culture as the ones who came before them.

Having been here since 2016, I can tell you there is definitely no such thing as a consensus on usage of content warnings on the fediverse. It's a decentralized network that doesn't belong to any one party, so by definition there is no single culture on it. Different corners have different expectations and customs.
