1/ So I have a question because I keep seeing a lot of fear mongering regarding Meta even on my own TikTok’s. What information do you perceive meta to be able to take from your #mastodon to the point you want to defederate? How is any of that data you are already publishing on ActivityPub and already making public on a server really that private? Because honestly it feels similar to how people get upset that you can film a building in public when you’re on the sidewalk. #fediverse #meta #threads

@chiefgyk3d To me it seems like the biggest issue would be Threads users federating, then facebook threatening defederation for any instances that, say don't meet their moderation policy, or are not advertiser friendly, etc..
Now you have instance owners in a bind, where they have either capitulate to facebook demands, or risk potentially losing users to threads.
Personally i'm against defederation unless facebook decides to not play nice in the sandbox. As I see they left the gate open to their walled garden, thus made it easier for people to home off of threads. Such that if they close the gate, they risk users jumping ship
