N/S papers are inherently worse scientifically, since they have to be so dramatically cut down to meet their publication standards. And they always emphasize the most controversial results of the work, which are typically the most scientifically dubious.
Giving any "prestige" to them is just as much a red flag as a department that still uses GRE scores.
