@karenlmasters @sandorkruk i poked very briefly at the rnaas and could not satisfy myself that this was not Galactic. Do we know this is not Galactic? It looks a lot like the magnetized structures we have been studying in the MW for about a decade.
Were you at @janerrigby's fantastic #aas241 talk this morning and were wondering "how could I do some of that?" in the science sections? You may be interested in my interactive presentation of STScI's Jupyter notebook machinery, Wednesday at 930a at the STScI booth!
@kityates I continue to lend my voice to asynchronous hybridity. If you used to have a yearly 4-day, in-person meeting chock full of talks switch to yearly alternating between all-virtual talk-centric meetings and longer pure in-person meetings focused on working and discussion. Costs and asymmetry for hybrid cannot be wished away. Contractors need to be paid.
I have always told my conservative friends and relatives (many whom I respect and actively discuss real issues with) that their concerns about silencing diverse views on campus were overblown. But holy crap, this is a very clear example of what they are worried about: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/08/us/hamline-university-islam-prophet-muhammad.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
@ChrisWilms23 @scerruti @gabipurcaru why is qoto missing?
I dunno who needs to hear this but if you have covid, and you have access to paxlovid, take paxlovid. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-04576-6
@galaxy_map @rdrimmel the sad truth is that it’s messier than any of us want it to be
@rdrimmel hahahaha fair!
Ending the year by updating my #website: http://dr-rodriguez.github.io/
It had been years since I touched it so it was overdue for a more modern look 😉

@janerigby this really should just be standard practice at such meetings. We tested every person every day at a 3 week meeting and it was absolutely the right move.
I’m planning to COVID test every day of #AAS241, to keep myself, my family, and my colleagues safe. If you’ll do the same, please share!
When I wrote my first research proposal, I was given one to emulate. How about we give that advantage to everyone? This story includes a link to our $190M NASA Earth Venture Mission Proposal: Butterfly

Deep space, archival data, machine learning. I lead the archives and data science at Space Telescope Science Institute. Views are mine, not STScI's or NASA's.
