@Jennyjinx I can understand that. And when I lead my own community 501c3 I really began to understand the need to be inclusive (voluntarily that is). But the cis hetero term is academic in origin and it just makes me cringe. If I have to- I'll say I'm hetero and leave it at that.

@Jennyjinx I just don't like the term- its a little too precious for me. And I will NEVER use it- nor will anyone I know. The academics pushing such terminology have an obvious agenda - its not about being respectful. Its about changing societal norms and expectations.

@Jennyjinx hmmm favorited? not what I expected! lol. Thanks for being a good sport!

@402PaymentRequired@bitcoinhackers.org I think the term for that is "word salad"

@bscheese@bsd.network can't disagree with what you said. My wife believes that the powers that be seek to disempower individuals and communities on multiple levels - via diet (and its affect on mental health), distraction, propaganda media, and dumbed-down education. And thats not altogether implausible (and why should it be). BTW, its sometimes heartening to hear that there is growing cynicism out there (although much of it from leftists- which I am not).

@Jennyjinx whenever I hear of some controversy involving genders I like to do a thought experiment (its so enlightening at times). So I think I'm going to say I'm most definitely smart, strong, and handsome. And If I say that, I might not be able to take myself seriously. FWIW (probably not much) I truly cringe at anyone using the term cis hetero. And yes, I'm not some neaderthal- I have several degrees. Doesn't mean I have to be a sheep and follow such fads.

Concerned about and land expropriation - guess people don't learn from history (as those in Zimbabwe are saying). Found a very informative primer on how SA organizes itself - along with its recent history. Fascinating country - hope it doesn't implode upon itself welections.wordpress.com/guide

hugging and touching so very important for theguardian.com/society/2018/m Especially now- when everyone is glued to their mobile. I strongly believe that our fascination with tech and mobile is one reason why everyone is so politicized (notice the loneliest people tend to be the most radical). But is not a good substitute for human kindness and a felling of belonging.

And I thought and might be immune to SJWs. Can we end this silliness? They'e not even helping their own cause. Science = Science campusreform.org/?ID=9543

@wanatoi well- I would hope no one appropriate godlike status to men- whether politicians, doctors, or priests (did I miss anyone). If so, we have a lot more work to do. And probably do anyway.

@benrob0329@mastodon.art I mean- why would you say blockchain is not decentralized ?

Seems like a good editorial about the scandal washingtonpost.com/blogs/post- Being a Catholic, I tire of people trying to tear down the Church to promote their own agenda. They appear short-sighted in what Catholicism offers. OTOH, I really wonder if the institution (not the tradition) can reform itself - most vested interests and institutions cannot (which is why I'm a cynical libertarian). But its not just a matter of corruption or inequality here - its the face of true evil. The Church had better think about the long-term consequences here. (and no, this is not a time for liberals to start demanding a whole new liturgy or other radical changes that have nothing to do with the scandal).

@benrob0329@mastodon.art yeah- not sure why they put that in there. Can you elaborate however?

@streetvalkyrie@mastodon.social though out of my control- and nearly everyone else- thankfully

@streetvalkyrie@mastodon.social as long as you return the favor (I hope)
