We’ve been doing experiments to study motor control of the arm by recording surface EMG (black rectangles) and the spiking of individual motor units using 32 channel injectable arrays (wire leading into the skin) shown here in my bicep and deltoid.

What a day! Played a concert, listened to the historic Hikaru vs Magnus final while driving to Toronto, finished off with @punchbrothers 😍

@dlevenstein Interesting! This recording was more of an accident, but I’m definitely interested in sleep. Hard to study in a controlled way with monkeys.

@I_calinjageman the vertical bands show very strong low frequency synchronization across the whole cortical column as the monkey dozes off. You’d see this pattern pretty much anywhere in cortex.

Hello Mastodon peeps 👋! This is what it looks like across hundreds of neurons in prefrontal cortex when a monkey starts dozing off.

Now that #COSYNE2023 abstracts are in I want to announce a #CIFAR workshop on #cognition, #AI and #consciousness that will take place *the day before COSYNE* (March 8) here at #Mila.

consiousnessworkshop2023.mila.

We have a great line-up and registration is *free*!

Please boost!!!!!

We have positions, lots of opportunities: computation, behavior, fMRI, electrophysiology, microscopy and often a mix of approaches -- all about arm/hand motor control and motor learning. Plus you help make the reading list! Please share. superlab.ca/join
