Un tenderete con libros, la mayoría, seguramente, de segunda mano y malos (si fueran buenos, la gente se los quedaría), no sirve para nada. Tenéis que acostumbraros a exigir más a vuestros representantes políticos.

O sea, que han puesto bibliotecas baratas y sin la infraestructura que hace de las verdaderas un lugar perfecto para estudiar tranquilamente y a salvo de los elementos, y activar la vida social y cultural de una ciudad con todo tipo de actividades.

I guess I would be a terrible father/mentor, given that I don’t know how to tie a necktie. Whenever I need it (maybe once per decade, if not less than that), I just grab a copy of His Girl Friday and watch Cary Grant do it.

I was in the loo reading this month’s issue of Record Collector magazine, and I saw that it featured a piece on music fanzines that got me thinking about creating an ezine about the Fediverse with interviews with Fedi people, commentary on the latest Fedi drama, op-eds on the stupidity of #fediblock, and stuff like that.

It would be cool if it could only be distributed via RSS feed, and, given that we live in current year, it could also contain audio or video downloads (i.e. music created by Fedi people or even popular memes).

I don’t know if I’m the right person for the job, as I’m pretty much an isolated incident here, but it seems like a fun project to undertake.

It’s hard to feel that there’s another person over there when all you read from them are one-liners.

What’s with #vim lately and its myriad security issues?

Maybe they just know that you’re a CEO/President and they can get everything they want without having to work for it?

Also, I wonder what’s your company’s name, so I never invest in it by mistake.

Whenever you (yes, you!) fail to entertain me, I go to my profile and read my own posts. Do I do that because they’re awesome and full of atemporal wisdom? Yes, but that’s not important right now. What matters is that you should step up your game, people! Be more interesting!

By the way, what I wanted to add was that they should charge much more. They’re billionaires, after all. They don’t give a fuck about paying a shitton of money for stuff, as long as it’s not for the common good (i.e., taxes).

Regarding the previous RT, I had pushed the wrong button (I wanted to make a QP), but then I thought: “Made a mistake, why should I not own it?”

Ok, let’s expand on this, because I think it’s an interesting topic: if you buy a dishwasher online, what will the algorithm recommend you buy next? Exactly: more dishwashers.

All the algorithm knows is that a dishwasher is similar to another, and that people who viewed one, probably viewed other models (they obviously did it to compare, but the algorithm is not that smart), so, from its point of view, the recommendation makes sense.

Same thing happens with videos on YouTube. If you watch a video on some current topic, the algorithm will recommend more of the same. The algorithm doesn’t take into account things like your ideology, for instance, or even your nationality, so, yes, it might recommend things that you may not like, but that’s just a side effect, not the intended purpose, which is that you keep watching videos, not that you get angry at them. Check the comments on the videos of the channels you usually watch. Most of them are in praise of the one who did it. Most negative comments come from dogpiling campaigns created by humans.

After all, if the algorithm was that good, how come everyone has been recommended things that they’re not interested in at all, or not even remotely linked to their interests?

So, when you get angry at anything on the Internet, don’t blame the algorithm. Blame yourself for lacking critical thinking skills and self-consciousness, and following self-proclaimed influencers.

It is your fault.
