Here's the chip that makes my favourite vintage computer sing: Robert Yannes' 6581 'SID' - one of the most amazing computer sound chips of the early 1980s and beyond! This particularly one is just short of 40 years old. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer #commodore #c64 #mos6581 #sid #8bit #soundchip #macro #macrophotography

@notawizard You made a Christmas star in an assembly, very cool! I can't wait to see it when the competition is finished :)
Yes, the last year's code in an assembly where amazingly small...

After watching @josipretrobits's video on coding challenges, I was inspired to enter the Vintage Christmas Challenge.

My submission turned out better than I thought it would, but looking at last year's results, I'll get smashed. 😂

But it was a nice way to spend a Sunday and got me back in the headspace of thinking in assembly.

I'll make a video of how I worked through it after the competition is finished.

Watching The Batman Group’s brand new demo on my #Amiga 500. OCS (original chip set, aka the chipset in the original 1985 Amiga) demos just keep getting more and more impressive. The soundtrack doesn’t even sound tracked. I have no idea how they fit this on 2 800K floppies! demozoo.org/productions/316180 #DemoScene

Of course I had to log on to Mastodon on the #DEC #VT420 - maybe someday I'll make it prettier but it works.
