An evangelical acquaintance on Facebook has posted a link to that Atlantic story about how politics has “poisoned” evangelicalism (those famously fresh, pure waters of apolitical kindness), and I’m now having to resist the temptation to drop this into the comments

@jrh Yup, absolutely. It's not that politics poisoned evangelicalism, it's that evangelicalism poisoned politics. Or rather, evangelicalism and conservative politics are just two wings of the same project.
