This is a bad look for the NY Times. Don’t beg Elon to allow your reporter back. That place is fatally corrupted.

Better idea: start your own Mastodon instance.

Neo-Nazis today doxed journalist Hilary Sargent, including posting where they think she lives, the name of her young son and more. They claim she runs some anonymous Twitter account. I can say unequivocally they're wrong.

Sargent isn't involved at all in the operation of that anonymous Twitter account. Period. The neo-Nazis got this wrong, as Nazis tend to do. But the false info branding her an "anti-white" extremist has rapidly spread, putting Sargent and her family in immediate danger. (1/2)

Election deniers in Arizona are trying to overturn their elections, a landmark elections case went to SCOTUS and voter suppression bills are being considered in Ohio. Discuss it all tomorrow on Defending Democracy at 2 pm ET.

Will we see you there?🤔

A very important article by Anthony Kalulu ofhttp://www.ugandafarm.org/.

"EA is even worse than traditional philanthropy in the way it excludes those of us who are directly battling ultra poverty in the global south...Top-bottom approaches...have had more than a good run. This has been the default way of ending global extreme poverty since the dawn of time...The only thing this has accomplished, is that it has helped keep the world’s ultra poor on the sidelines"

Unboxed my book today! It's about municipal garbage collection, American political development, governance, corruption, inequality. Garbage collection can seem mundane, but it's political.

This talk on ESP-Lisp, an efficient Lisp implementation for the $2 ESP-8266 microcontroller with wifi, gives me hope in these dark times. If I had time and didn't have a pile of personal projects that need to first be polished up and push out the door already, I'd totally work on a minimal activity pub service for one of these: youtu.be/Lf03mxLDYa4

The new, sensible and definitely not petulant twat-directed #Twitter rules that prohibit the posting of anything that exposes a person's location in real time seem to me to mean that anyone mentioning the name of someone on TV or at a sport or other event that is live should be suspended. In fact, for anyone with a Twitter account it should be a social duty to report anyone talking about any live events and mentioning a person's name. You know, to stop the danger.
