If you are out of ideas, go for a walk.
This paper found walking (whether outdoors or a treadmill) increased key types of creative thinking for over 80% of undergraduates. The reasons are not fully clear, but there seem to be direct effects on the brain. https://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/releases/xlm-a0036577.pdf
I see a lot of people talking about how Mastodon "Feels like the Internet I remember from 20 years ago."
That's no accident. That's Federation. That's UseNet, IRC, Email, Message Boards, etc. What do they all have in common?
Federation: Users congregating around watering holes of common interest, but still being a part of a larger whole.
THIS IS HOW THE INTERNET WAS DESIGNED TO BE. And I am HERE for it.
@randalltan personally I find #WFH more freeing, since it eliminates a lot of extra worries about social etiquette (attire, mannerisms, interactions, conversations, politics, etc) on top of work
Really helpful as someone who doesn't cope well with #anxiety most of the time: I don't want to struggle in my job just because I have trouble keeping up with physical/social interactions that aren't the main scope of my work
I see folk are doing their proper #introduction so thought I’d do one, with more hashtags!
I’m a #horror #writer from #england who is inspired by #stephenking #lovecraft and the mind-mess that is #houseofleaves. I’ve also dabbled in #sf #comedy and #noir, and have had a few #shortstories popped about the place.
When not writing #nightmares I mostly #xbox #read and “enjoy” #wwe and #astonvilla. I also suffer from #mentalhealth inc #anxiety #depression #paranoia & #suicidalideation.
Enjoy!
Travel tips for #ActuallyAutistic folks
You have decided you are going somewhere. What should you do next?
Travelling can be equal parts exciting and stressful.
Here are some things I do to lessen my anxiety.

While this was written for autistic folks, it can also help folks with #anxiety.
What are your trusted pre-travel hacks to reduce anxiety?
Hi. It's great to connect with everyone here! As an #introduction, I am a clinical psychologist and tenure-track professor of child & adolescent #clinicalpsychology. I mainly post about #child and adolescent #mentalhealth, especially child #anxiety.
I’m Emma. I live in Glasgow, Scotland and at the moment I’m studying Data Analysis. I previously taught Visual Culture in art schools, but have always been interested in tech. My main research interest and teaching focus was previously on the commons so I’m now quite interested in #opendata and happy to meet others into #datascience #rstats #python #introductions
Hi, I'm a bioinformatician, which is at the intersection of two disciplines.
Biology: I'm interested in pretty much any living thing, most of all evolution, biological networks and systems.
Informatics: Linux geek since 2001, #rstats user for about 15 years, and functional programmer since I learnt me some Haskell 3 years ago.
I turn data into knowledge and actions. Some might call that a "data scientist". I call it a biologist, who uses computers to answer questions and strives to write robust and efficient code.

Worth a look if you'd like to expand your exploratory data analysis toolkit. #eda
