"Even as obesity treatments Ozempic and Mounjaro continue their surge in popularity, drug hunters are asking whether it is possible for people to lose weight on these glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonists without losing muscle."

What explains the rich exchange of information here on Masto? It's really a great community.
It's a deafening silence over at Bluesky... And the other place is not for many people for obvious reasons.
The semantic search engine of over 25,000 CD-ROMs from the Internet Archive is back:
http://DISCMASTER.TEXTFILES.COM is once again helping people discover long-lost computer history, forgotten images and music, and endless other buried treasures.
It was gone for half a year. Now it's here to stay. Enjoy.
'Here, we review our present understanding of the various pathways to cell death. The literature is extensive and, at times, confusing and even contradictory. As such, at the risk of missing certain advances, we have chosen to emphasize concepts that have been pressure-tested through a combination of biochemistry and genetics and are therefore likely to stand the test of time.'

""The present yeast used to make Guinness stout brewed in Dublin, Ireland, can be traced back to 1903, but its origins are unknown. To that end, we used Illumina and Nanopore sequencing to generate whole-genome sequencing data for a total of 22 S. cerevisiae yeast strains: 16 from the Guinness collection and 6 other historical Irish brewing."
Do we have any #Danish speaking natural #science enthusiasts in the hus? I'm looking for help identifying which term in this sentence (from #entomologist J.C. Schiodte) could have been translated by "accommodation," as well as what a more direct translation of said Danish term would be.
Please boost if you have Danish contacts. Tak allesammen! 🙂
We're entering peak faculty interview season in my field.
One of the most common ways a candidate is derailed during the interview is not deflecting aggressive questioning during the seminar or chalk talk.
Although this may be a sign to run, the questioner might not even be a part of the interviewing department.
To prepare, I suggest this amazing guide on how to deal with derailing questions during a talk from
UCSF.

Today's the day the Ultimate Tape Archive upgraded from 4.0 to 4.5. 250 new tapes.
That's many hundreds of Commodore 64 Cassettes released with all the elements scanned, AND I've made them all emulate in the browser (watch out for those loading times).
18gb collection: https://archive.org/details/Ultimate_Tape_Archive_V4.5
Enjoy playing over 2000 of them:
