@fgbjr @futurebird I wonder what happens when a legislator drops a copy of the bill
"For millennia, humans have peered into the heavens, and people around the world have seen a night sky that’s virtually identical to what their ancestors saw. But in recent years, that has clearly changed. Artificial light from glowing urban areas continues to encroach into surrounding regions, while dark-sky areas, such as in minimally populated national and state parks in the United States, recede."

@OkieSpaceQueen I'm bringing my old telescope to my grandkids- in Princeton, NJ. I'm guessing the skies where you're going will be a lot darker. I'll be introducing them to globeatnight.org
@Sophie Good for you! Years after I retired I noticed my physics lab manual is still being sold to students- but with the current instructor's name on the cover. I wonder if students are perplexed by the references to the "Apple IIe"
The next Globe at Night campaign officially starts on February 12, but for many people in the Northern Hemisphere, it will be possible to take data tonight already: https://www.globeatnight.org/webapp/
For example, tonight in Berlin it's possible to observe during 7:05-10:25 pm.
@drskyskull Husband and son used to try that too. Not very pleasant to have to listen to that practice.
@north_easton @kairyssdal No, not at all. Just buy what I need (not want) and pay off balance every month.
Fixed it for you: Mr. Biden, whose age is a source of obsession for the New York Times, at first raced through the early pages of his text.

@WillRobinson It's hard to wrap my mind about taking pride in being boorish and ignorant.
@futurebird 60 years ago I watched my mom make her Palmer method circles in the air before writing. Now there's this.
@yassie_j As it turns out, in my brief ballet career (one year, age 5) I was indeed a lily pad, although visited by a little boy sprite of some sort, not a frog. Then I had to be escorted off stage because I stayed behind to find my parents.
My career ended for many reasons- another sibling, starting kindergarten, or (most likely) I'd become quite a brat.
All this balloon chatter reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad joked about owning an "official weather balloon". There was some catalog that came to the house that had them. So we got him one for his birthday, inflated it to 5 ft or so- then promptly popped it when it caught on a bush. I'd completely forgotten about that until now.
@raulclima I remember living near a city and sometimes could see the Milky Way. Now in the "country" (near a large university to be sure) I can only pick out the brightest stars. My SQM seemed to think it darker than I did, so maybe that's aged eyes? I know it takes a LONG time now for accommodation.
@drskyskull I'm supposed to be sewing a cowgirl outfit for a 6 year old but I'm here stuck with my laptop. Get. Off. This. Chair.
(And what 6 year old city kid wants a cowgirl outfit? Pink, no less. Disney princess meets Annie Oakley)
