What is the proportion of female economists in various fields or regions? RePEc has the data.

A lot of people have asked for the files for this one as well. I've put them here: thingadongdong.com/sec/s/thisi

Use at your own risk, and note that there are no folding instructions (and it's a little tricky to fold!), so you'll have to figure that out on your own 😄

A friend sent me this last year JMP of Alison Andrew which studies marriage market in India where the decision maker is parent (of the girl in question). I was deeply horrified and fascinated at the same time. As many other economic topics have the same effect on me.

Hi #EconTwitter,

This short, easy to read #Health #Economics paper, based on simple linear regressions, made it to @Nature in 8 months.

Can you guess what would have happened if they submitted to a good #economics journal?

Research in monopsony (Manning, Marinescu), noncompetes (hello @evanpstarr@twitter.com), concentration (Philippon) have caused a titanic rethink in competition policy, but the libertarian economist interviewed by The Economist at the annual meeting isn’t impressed much.

It is really hard to anticipate just how incomplete documentations can be.

My intro notes for network analysis in economics are now part of #QuantEcon #DataScience — a great set of open source resources for teaching computational skills to undergraduate economists 🧑‍💻

The opening paragraph both resonates with me and bothers me deeply…

Zotero trick: priority / ratings field

Zotero trick: priority / ratings field that is much needed since ancient times, turns out to be possible thanks to the brilliant Zotero Special Tags column plugin [1].

Code to paste into the plugin: (I used moon here since there is no "empty star" emoji).

Trying to to the right / good thing could do harm sometimes though. I should not be overconfident about anything.

Over the week, I was contemplating over the fact that New Zealand, possibly also Australia and UK, does not approve of immigrants with autism and similar high-demand medical conditions. And over the shortage of health care professionals that I have learnt through past few months’ readings.

But there is simply no any other acceptable conclusion, is there? There’s no way this could possibly be the right thing to do. Anyone who says otherwise is nothing more than a monster.

Ultimately, we are putting lives and money on a scale. I need to remember that and proceed with caution always.

Oh my dear. Of course it was Arrow, I should've known better.
