The climate has changed slowly in the past due to variations in Earth's orbit and solar output. Its the rate of changes we've seen over the past century that are truly exceptional (and worrying).

@timo21 @hausfath Modern Humans were already in Europe before the last glacial minimum you see on the right at -12000. So they could cope with -5°C below pre-industrial. But cope ≠ thrive. Humanity exploded starting around -6000 ish.
